Why Wear a Uniform?

Uniforms are an essential part of the Cub Scout experience.  In addition to their ability to convey an esprit de corps the uniform is a physical reminder to the scout of the many things scouting stands for and believes!

Wearing the Cub Scout uniform and participating in pack/den uniform inspections will remind the scout of appropriate behavior and appearance.

Presenting a neat and tidy appearance will then remind him to live up to the tenets of the Cub Scout Promise, the Law of the Pack, and most importantly; the Cub Scout Motto!

Do Your Best!

Finally, your sons Cub Scout uniform is the ONLY approved place to disply his achievement awards and recognition beads!  This requirement serves as a formal means of displaying the tangible product of your scouts hard work to complete rank achievements.

By proudly displaying his achievements and seeing his peers display theirs he is spurred forward along the Cub Scout and ultimately along the Boy Scout trail.

Pack 230 Uniform Requirements

Pack 230 strongly believes in the principals behind Cub Scout Uniforms!  However, we are somewhat dubious about the incremental learning benefit the average Scout will recieve by wearing then entire Cub Scout Uniform including 'official Cub Scout' socks etc.

So...Pack 230 has adopted the following uniform requirements based on what we believe to be a reasonable compromise position.  

Each Scout must have a 'Class A' uniform as described below and wear it to all official Pack 230 events. Wearing a uniform is especially important for Pack meetings. We will not present an advancement award to a boy who is not in uniform!

This does not mean we would in any way discourage you from purchasing any additional Scout merchandise you would like - merely that it is not required. We have found that purchasing our standard uniform and then offering relatives the option of adding pieces at holidays is a great strategy.

A Scout's 'Class B' uniform is not an official BSA sanctioned uniform. This is our own Pack's creation and is intended to be worn as an alternative to the full Cub Scout uniform. We wear these shirts on informal occasions - ie. hiking, camping or as directed by pack leaders.

Uniform Insignia  (Back to Class A Uniforms)

"Class B" Uniform

The Pack 230 "Class B" Uniform consists of a plain white t-shirt with an inkjet generated iron-on transfer decal applied to the front of the shirt.   Different artwork is used for leaders t-shirts which identifies the leaders role.  This alternate artwork is available upon request.
